Musician TECHNOLOGIST Community Builder

Gary BrowN

is a musician, electronics engineer, community builder, and radio show host based in the Silicon Valley (also known as the San Francisco Bay Area). His love and enthusiasm for music started at an early age, enjoying a wide array of genres including jazz, funk, classical, Broadway, as well as pop music from the 70s and 80s. Getting involved in music groups at school became a launchpad for his music passion which has been a guiding light throughout his life.  The electricity and joy he brings to the stage and every musical setting is palpable.

I love music — who doesn’t? But I love talking about it, playing it, creating it, and sharing everything about it, especially learning all I can from others. I can’t hold in my excitement for the healing power of music.
— Gary Brown

While he enjoys studying and performing music in all forms, whether playing solo trombone with a backing track, or joining in the fray of a jam session, he has an incredible knack for uplifting other musicians and music lovers with his powerful presence and encouraging words, and unbridled courage to get involved, something highly contagious. Through his travels, frequent attendance at local shows, and his weekly radio show, he has created a network of like-minded creative souls, cheering them on along the way. He is not just a musician, but a conduit, a connecting line, an advocate, and a deep reminder that music heals and also transcends distance, space, and time.

In addition to his musical interests and expression, he is also an electronics engineer with over 30 years of experience as a technologist. His work as a technical marketing leader at both startup and established microprocessor companies in Silicon Valley and Asia has bridged the gap between the technological and the creative realms. For over a decade, due to the demanding nature of his career in electronics, he was unable to prioritize music during this passage, until his love for the craft was reignited at the summer Jazz Camp in 2018. This inspirational moment lit a fire that continues to grow, as Gary prepares to compose, record, and release his own original music to the world.

Though music and the technology domain of Silicon Valley seem disconnected, Gary has gone on to bring his trombone and performances into the workplace.  And he brings his attention to detail from engineering into his music practice. He hopes to be an advocate for all music lovers to immerse themselves in the art, to go after their dreams and callings, and to remember that music is the best healing medicine out there.
