Technology

For over 30 years, Gary Brown has been merging his passion for science and technology together with his drive to create.  After starting his career as an electronics engineer in Osaka, Japan at Panasonic, he established himself as an applications engineering and technical marketing leader back in California in Silicon Valley at a number of microprocessor and semiconductor companies.

At Dolby Laboratories in the late 1990s he led the effort to support semiconductor implementation of the Dolby Digital technology standard, and then worked as an audio systems engineer at the embedded processor IP licensing startup, Tensilica (later acquired by Cadence Design Systems). He later joined the UK startup Arithmatica at their Silicon Valley headquarter office as an applications engineering manager for Asia-Pacific customers who licensed the optimized arithmetic IP.  He then turned toward technical marketing to lead US based sales/marketing for Morpho Inc, a Tokyo based software company specializing in imaging and video for mobile camera applications. Gary returned to Tensilica as Marketing Director for Imaging/Video IP, leading all aspects of marketing from business plan to product launch. Tensilica was acquired by Cadence in March 2013, and one year later he joined the Irish vision and machine learning microprocessor startup Movidius as VP of Marketing where he helped launch their flagship Myriad 2 vision processor.

Movidius was acquired by Intel in 2016, and Gary was awarded the Intel Achievement Award in 2018 for leading marketing of the Intel Neural Compute Stick USB-based AI development kit. Gary moved to focus on product marketing at the Intel’s Data Center & AI Group in 2020, and he continues his technology journey at Intel today.
