Gary’s musical life and exploration has been a labor of love and community building. He displays his dedication to the craft through self-study as well as lessons with the amazing trombonist/singer/songwriter Natalie Cressman, and he has also been actively performing in Silicon Valley and beyond.

Some of his musical accomplishments include:

• 1987 - 1990: Played in the University of California, Berkeley marching band known as the “Cal Band” as well as the UC Jazz Ensembles.

• 1999: Performed with Goat Hall Productions in The Threepenny Opera pit orchestra, San Francisco, California.

• 2018-2024: Summer participation at Jazz Camp West

• 2021: Composed and performed via livestream several original songs: “Sliding In The Snow”, “Take the GB Train”, and “Silicon Valley Breakfast Meeting”, co-written with Mark White (The Spin Doctors).

• 2022: Livestreamed concert for 3,000 people on the Sunday morning ClubHouse HQ Music Room

• 2023: Wrote an original funk song “We Are Intel” to perform at a corporate event

• 2021-2025: Ongoing show “Let’s Talk Jazz” on ClubHouse, a virtual international discussion room, talking about all aspects of jazz including informal interviews of today’s impactful artists.

• 2023: Performed in New Orleans, Lousiana, alongside several bands during The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival week, including: The Secret Six Jazz Band (at d.b.a.), Sugar Bear & The Jazz Cats (at The Market Cafe on Decatur St), and Tubadrip (at The Frenchmen Hotel).

• 2022-2024: Gary can be seen bringing jazz and funk tunes to open mic nights occasionally at the Nirvana Soul cafe in downtown San Jose, California

While most of Gary’s musical accomplishments have happened in a live setting, he is currently working on writing, producing, and releasing his own original music. Stay tuned for dates and details about upcoming performances and release dates.
